Radical art on campus. And by radical we mean totally sweet.

Penn First Wednesdays

A Spiegel Fund Event

7 - 10pm
October 3, November 7, December 5, February 6 and March 5

Penn students rendezvous at ICA on first Wednesdays from 7-10pm for coffee-infused conversation, avant-garde film or popular music related to the exhibitions. Meet artists and other professionals in the field during "Ask the Experts," a popular ongoing series at these events. See original performances by Penn's very own comedy troupes Bloomers and Mask & Wig.

Do you know which museum gave Andy Warhol his first solo exhibition?

In 1965, Andy Warhol's first solo museum exhibition opened at Penn's Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). Penn students mobbed Warhol and his friend Edie Sedgwick at the opening in what The Philadelphia Inquirer described as a "near riot."

More than 40 years later, ICA continues to put Penn students on the cutting edge with its internationally acclaimed program of contemporary art. Visit ICA this 2006/07 academic year and see for yourself what radical art is today.

Past Penn First Wednesdays

Penn's comedy troupe Bloomers continue the celebration of Ben Franklin's 300th birthday with a performance in ICA galleries during the February's event.

Students explore the use of camera obscura during the November event in conjunction with "Rodney Graham: A Little Thought."
