Volunteer and Internship Information

Welcome! Whether working in the offices, on curatorial projects or assisting with special events, volunteers and interns play a vital role in fulfilling this mission.

Volunteers are an invaluable resource in that they not only work to ensure ICA's stability and future growth, but enrich the arts community at large. The hours are flexible. For those who are available in the evenings and on weekends only, possible opportunities include Education and Special Events. (Please see below for descriptions.) All others require availability Monday-Friday between 9-6.

ICA Internship Program
Since 1963, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) has provided a forum for the presentation and documentation of recent developments in the visual arts. ICA strives to challenge the public’s understanding of contemporary art by presenting innovative work of established artists and the work of emerging artists through critically acclaimed exhibitions, educational programs and publications. The Internship Program at ICA welcomes college juniors and seniors, graduate students and recent graduates interested in learning about contemporary art and culture and volunteering in a challenging, hands-on environment. Interns play a vital role in fulfilling ICA’s mission and have the opportunity to work with staff on a variety of essential projects.
