INTERNSHIP - MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS
The Marketing and Communications Department seeks an enthusiastic intern who is interested in learning about marketing and public relations practices for a non-profit organization. Must be familiar with social media (Blogging, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and be a creative thinker in terms of reaching out to students through these various forms of technology. The prospective candidate will also assist in preparing press kits and mailings, filing and scanning press clippings, promotions of the exhibitions and public programs, and outreach to the community on a local and global level.
INTERNSHIP - EDUCATION
Education interns work on projects and programs that help various audiences understand and enjoy contemporary art. Interns provide organizational and on-site support for programs ranging from artist talks to teen workshops. Other duties include development and distribution of educational materials, tour coordination, research and administrative tasks. Excellent organizational skills and ability to interact with the public required.
DEVELOPMENT
Internship - Development Intern 1 (Open)
(Assist Staff Writer)
Assist ICA's staff writer in the research and compilation of materials required for funding requests and grant reports. Intern responsibilities also include conducting Internet research into business, foundation, and government web sites; specialized databases; and news sources. Intern will also assist in fact-checking and proofreading proposals and reports, and help maintain the development department's archives. The successful intern will have strong organization, writing, and research skills. The position requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week, 2-3 days per week.
Internship - Development Intern 2
(Assist Director of Development and Assistant Development Officer)
This position will allow the student an inside view to the inner-workings of a non-profit art organization. Student will be assigned to assist ICA's Development offices in the day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks. Tasks include data entry, filing, light typing, answering phones, and coordination of mailings. Interns working in Development will be responsible for maintaining annual giving, membership renewal and new member solicitation, and diligent updating of member information. Development department requires important clerical and administrative support from individuals who are detail-oriented, self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and good memory.
Internship - Development Intern 3
(Special Events Coordinator) Assist ICA's Special Events & Sales Coordinator
Assist with coordination of Annual Benefit student dance party. Assist with large mailings and invitations to special events. Also, assist with additional day-to-day administrative and clerical projects for rentals, ICA Benefit and private dinners and assist in the planning, staffing and production of ICA Benefit and private dinners. Assist with renting space to clients and preparing rentals packets. Some light data entry and filing will be required. Development department requires clerical and administrative support from individuals who are detail-oriented, self-motivated with strong organizational skills. Must be a people-person, organized, and ability to follow-up on details. Ability to contact vendors and arrange donations. Must have good telephone manners. Must also be flexible and comfortable in a fast paced work environment and possess exceptional time management skills. Strong computing skills a plus. Attend some evening events.
Internship - Development Intern 4
(Library Cataloguer /Catalog Librarian)
Manage ICA catalog sales (individual and institutional), maintain inventory, supervise catalog exchanges with other art organizations, work with volunteers to organize and shelve ICA exchange catalogs, update/organize ICA exhibition and artists' files. Some experience with Filemaker Pro. Ability to process small and large mailings. Work on the museum's library and book exchange program. The library contains approximately 3000 books and periodicals dealing with art, both contemporary and historic. Volunteer will assist with cataloging and shelving books. Also, assist with additional day-to-day administrative and clerical projects for rentals, ICA Benefit and openings.
Candidate must be detailed oriented, excellent organizational skills and good telephone manners. Flexible hours available.
ADMINISTRATION
Internship - Administrative Assistant
Administrative assistants work with ICA staff by preparing letters, helping with database management, accounting entries, photocopying, filing, errands and light typing.
Need knowledge of Filemaker Pro, detail oriented, eager to learn, organized, ability to meet deadlines.
Internship - Information Technology Assistant
Well-versed in computers and graphic imaging, technical assistants help with scanning, setting up e-mail accounts, downloading software, configuring new computers, and trouble-shooting the network. Also prepare recommendations for equipment proposals and advise on technical issues. MWTHF Minimum of 3 month commitment. 10-15 hours weekly.
CURATORIAL/REGISTRAR
Internship - Curatorial Assistant
Interns in the Curatorial department will be responsible for assisting the Curators and Exhibitions Coordinator with the preparation for and the physical organization of exhibitions at the ICA. Interns will gain experience doing research, working on the intricacies associated with brokering, procuring and documenting loans as well as having a degree of contact with the installation and de-installation process. The ICA is also in the midst of organizing its extensive archive and interns will be asked to assist with this ongoing project by reading and sorting through files, packing them for storage, and labeling them properly. Requests for information often come from the public and interns will be responsible for answering these requests by doing research in the archive and photocopying any requested materials. In addition to working on individual exhibitions, and the archive interns will also participate in the day to day operation of the department by performing administrative tasks such as filing, labeling slides, answering phones and entering and shelving books for the ICA's library. The Curatorial department requires that interns be organized, detail oriented, responsible, computer literate, comfortable interacting with the public and capable of multi-tasking.
